Missed meme...
Apparently I missed a book meme from Alala, and I love books, and have many, so I thought I would join in. I'm guessing (I can't find the original post), that you just post some random shots of your books, so, here goes:

Feel free to join in!

This past week...
in random order, cause I am too disorganized to do anything else):1. Don Imus is a putz.
2. Kurt Vonnegut died on my birthday. He was my favorite author ever.
3. I am well and truly 35 now.
4. Chicago is nice, when the sun is actually shining.

5. I am starting to look pregnant.

6. Speaking of which, a person who will not be named said this after being told that its more typical for a pregnant woman to feel nauseus rather than actually hungry when her stomach is empty: "Oh, is that why they get so fat?" to which I wanted to say, "And what's your excuse?"
Now, I didn't say it, which was good, cause it would not have been nice, but please, there are certain things you shouldn't say in front of crabby pregnant women.
7. We went to a restaurant in Chicago, where they put ONION RINGS on their salad. I hope its not a trend.
8. Both the Chicken Vesuvio and the Chicken Marsala were wonderful at Harry Caray's in Chicago. But the bread and fresh squeezed lemonade were even better.
9. Buca di Beppo in Chicago does a very nice gnocchi.
10. My husband is very nice to me, even when I am crabby.

11. My sister and brother-in-law are also very nice- thank you so much for gift, carrot cake and fruit salad!
12. I missed my kid a lot. My in-laws were great to take her for the week- she had a wonderful time.

13. Vosge chocolates are the best.
14. Grindhouse is okay, not great. Planet Terror was FAR superior to Death Proof, though Kurt Russell was having a good time.
So, as you can tell, we were in Chicago last week. The weather was kind of sucky, in fact the first day we were there we took the train into the city, and got off at the first stop that said "Navy Pier/Grand", because our hotel was on the Magnificent Mile and I had read that the Navy Pier was there as well. Turns out- WRONG. Anyway, so we walked two miles through hail and sleet and wind, in a fairly rough neighborhood, 'til we finally slogged into the hotel. During the journey we got soaked by a bus in muddy water (told the Vosge lady about this and that it was my birthday, and she gave me a free truffle! Go Vosge!). They were nice enough to let us into our room early and we were able to shower and go out to the Art Institute of Chicago. Next day was more of the same weather, fairly miserable, but that was okay, as we had a conference to go to. Also went out to the Navy Pier and to Buca di Beppo's for Kev's birthday. Friday was bright and beautiful- we went to Grant Park and had a nice time. Ate at Harry Caray's- crowded but the food was good. Managed to get to the airport early and got an earlier flight out.
I don't know how quickly I would go back to Chicago- it was a nice city, but not my favorite by far. Maybe I'll try Las Vegas next time!

My husband is a big sucker....
and other things you probably knew already.File under- Don't Think You Can Plan Your Life...

So, as many of you know, the "technicality" listed on my sister's site is that I am, in fact, pregnant.
Was a great surprise to me, let me tell you, as I spent most of January and the beginning of February thinking I had the worst case of flu ever.
So, despite thinking we had it all planned out, one kid, maybe a dog in the future, life's gotta give you a little kick in the pants to change things up.
Yeah life! Bastard.
Not that we're unhappy- in fact the husband appears to be very happy indeed (he can also keep his breakfast down- bastard). Was just unexpected. Alala thinks we shoud name the new bugger "Reefer". What do you think?
File under- Hah...

The husband is also a huge sucker, especially for my daughter, who LOVES the Justice League. Recently, the Flash has been a favorite of hers, as she says she can run just like him (not true, in fact, not even close, but I'm not telling her), and last night we saw an adult t-shirt with him on it. Well, of course she just HAD to have it, and gave every cute face she has to sucker her father in.
It worked.
So, I called him a sucker.
And then she said:
"Thank you! Sucker!"
Also...
She doesn't get mad at me very often (I know this will change), and never for a long time, but this weekend was a little different. She was impatient the WHOLE weekend, asking for things over and over (I can't STAND that), so on about the hundredth time she asked for a treat, I said No, and if she asked again, there would be no treat tomorrow either.
She asked again.
So, I calmly told her about her "no-treat" future, to which she stormed up stairs and proceeded to yell in her best protest fashion:
"Momma's Mean!"
"Momma's Mean!"
"Momma's Mean!"
This lasted at LEAST a half hour.
Haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Anything else? Not that I can think of!
