Misc. post-Xmas thoughts:

James Brown, 1933-2006. He will be sorely missed.

I had a great Christmas! I got Roller Skates! So I can try out for the Roller Derby! WooHoo!

I also got Dregs perfume! I love it! It smells like Alcoholic Grape Pez!

I think everyone had a great Christmas- it was really a lovely holiday. We should do it again next year!

Oh, and Kevin and I are looking for a quirky, fun place to spend our birthdays (both in April)- any thoughts?

I won my Fantasy Football championship!

Weight Loss

So, I didn't come through the holidays unscathed. I'm up a pound, for a total loss of only 1 pound. But- this is what I had to face:

Dec. 21: Got in in time for dinner. Had my mother-in-law's wonderful Chicken in Phyllo (chicken in a creamy mustard sauce wrapped in puff pastry), with lovely green beans and rice, salad with gorgonzola cheeze and candied cranberries, and homemade chocolate cake. Oh, and lovely red wine.
Dec. 22: Breakfast- homemade orange cranberry scones, croissants, peach butter, lunch- roast beef paninis with roasted red pepper, horseradish and mozzarella, dinner- spicy sausage gravy with pasta
Dec. 23: Breakfast- more of same from yesterday, Lunch- I honestly don't remember right now, Dinner- homemade gnocchi is a spicy sauce
Dec. 24: Brunch- at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. Oyster stew with caviar cream, Smoked prime rib, eggs benedict, belgian waffles, plentiful seafood, mushroom polenta, key lime pie- and too much else to list. Was a REAL TREAT- we actually skipped lunch, Dinner- Chorizo and mussels, with parmesan spaghetti and good bread. Wine and cookies for dessert.
Dec. 25: Breakfast- Zabar's whitefish salad, bagels, lox, sable- the whole 9 yards. And fresh fruit salad with mascarpone cream,, Lunch- I honestly don't remember right now, Dinner- Le Yacca Onion soup (the best!), prime rib with herbs, scalloped rosemary potatoes, broccolini, salad, good bread, good wine, Dessert- Brown Derby grapefruit cake, pear tart and deep dark chocolate cheesecake.
Dec. 26: Breakfast- a repeat of the day before, Lunch- pizzas, Dinner- celebrated Ella's birthday at a chinese restaurant, had Peking duck, a chicken dish, orange beef, steamed dumplings and a shrimp and scallop dish, Dessert- ice cream cake and grapefruite cake.
Dec. 27: Breakfast- omelettes, lox, bacon, sweet potato biscuits

I did run an average of 4 miles a day though, which I feel good about, once in the driving ice rain. Every other day was like spring. Lewis Black is freakingout as I type this. And I will continue the running, and try to ramp up my speed a bit, so I can keep up with Kev. Supposedly we are training for a marathon (again!).

More as I can think of it!
